On a cold Fall morning, this is the perfect breakfast... but it also makes a wonderful snack and (with perhaps a bit of spiced yogurt or whipped cream on the side) it can also be a decadent dessert.
If you wrap it in tinfoil and place it directly in a campfire rather than baking in the oven, it’s the perfect breakfast for a summer camping trip.
However, and whenever you eat it, enjoy!

Ingredients:
- 2 apples
- 1/4 cup oats
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ginger
- 2 tsp cardamom
- 1/8 c. Butter, cold
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
- Wash the apples, then remove the core. This is easiest with an apple corer, but can be done with a knife. This part should be supervised by an adult. Use a spoon to scoop out more space around the core. Save the parts of the apple you scoop out.
- In a bowl, mix together oats, spices, and cut-up cold butter. If you’d like to get creative, mix in some extra treats! We recommend adding the apple from the core, as well as nuts, dried fruit, and even some honey.
- Add the oatmeal mix into the apple.
- Bake the apple at 375 degrees for 20 minutes
- For children, let cool 5 minutes before serving
- Enjoy!
