- Red and blue colored pencils, crayons, or pens
Instructions
This activity builds fluency and accuracy in writing your spelling words, and is also a way to integrate math with your spelling work!
- Before you begin, make sure you understand the difference between consonants and vowels.
Vowels let the sound flow (I call them “singing sounds”) and consonants change the flow of sound by using different parts of your mouth: your teeth, tongue, palate, and lips.
The vowels in our alphabet are A, E, I, O, U. The consonants are all the other letters!
Write the vowels at the top of your page if you need help remembering which letters are which.
- For each of your spelling words, write the vowels in blue
- For each of your spelling words, write the consonants in red
